Kudos for taking into consideration air quality! I have 2 Blue Air purifiers that have been running 24/7 the last 4 years and they make a huge difference. I live in a city (pollution), have covid-induced asthma, and if I leave them off within 24hrs I'm having strings of asthma attacks. Turn them back on, inside of 2 hrs it stops. Worth the investment and they're absolute workhorses!

I like that you keep it real with your message at the beginning. All these setups with hidden wires, soft LEDs, and anime figurines look really aesthetic. But at the end of the day, getting shit done doesn't really depend on any of this shit.

I'm a fan of the zip-tie wire management. I often get a big of 100-200 ties from a hardware store. The tiny ones, and I'll put a zip tie every 1-2 inches on basically any wires where there's two or more. My philosophy is that not all wires will be invisible, so I want them as absolutely immaculate as possible. So they look super seamless and tied together like a massive tube.

Another thing I do with my desk setup that's fairly unique, and not accessible to everyone is that I actually keep my desktop PC in the spare bedroom and route all the wires through my walls.

I mostly do this, because I'm super sensitive to fan sounds, and I want absolute silence when I'm using my PC. It's just a quirk of mine. I hate the noise. And I mean really hate it. Any fan noise will bother me.

But also, keeping the PC box in another room means two other things. One, I don't have to worry about LED lights or a fancy case. It's tucked away (well ventilated) in a spot I'll never see it. And two, my office has a really great minimalist look to it. My monitor has a wall mount it extends from and all the wires route through that. So there's no monitor wires. And my mouse and keyboard plug into a tiny dock at the edge of my desk.

And my like 10 portable drives all live with the PC, so they're not seeable from the office.

Side note, since I think I saw an Alienware monitor in this video. I got the DWF about a year or two ago. No burn in yet ;) But I specifically went for the newer model as it only had one fan instead of two. I'm happy to note that the monitor's internal fan isn't on enough to bother my noise sensitivity. But I DO notice when it kids on. It be very rare, and kinda sounds like when the central heating kicks on. So it's short lived and easy to tune out.

One of the small details I noticed over the years is that the type of desk can really help too. I've not tried a stand up desk before. But when I was younger, I used one of those shitty folding tables. The kind you bump into and it feels like everything shakes because it's just a folding table, lol.

Several years ago I got a big 3x8 foot hardwood table, and it's freaking solid. Like you can bang into it. STAND ON IT, lean on it. Sit on it. It doesn't move. Nothing on the desk moves. I love it. But if I didn't own my own house I wouldn't get a sturdy hardwood table. It's gonna live and die in this house. I'll never take it moving, lol!

But it's also nice since I sit Indian-style a lot (my legs don't touch the floor), I can brace against the table and push out to move my chair back and fourth without it being too wobbly to ruin anything.

Additionally, if people want to get hardcore with tables, and this can talk about wire management too. A solid table can be modified. People can screw in metal magnet plates for other magnet pieces to stick to. Wire channels can be drilled in. Tables are modifiable as hell. One thing I like to do is use double-sided tape a lot to keep power bricks glued to hidden locations.

Lighting makes a big difference. The monitor lamp sounds interesting. Right now I have 6 floor lamps in my office that diffuse a nice bright light. I love just quiet, bright, clean, white. My wife calls my office a "hospital room." lol..
