I love the themes of empathy throughout the book--not just the animals of the island coming to accept Roz, but Roz coming to accept them in turn. Feels like it shows the kids reading it that just a little bit of understanding can go a long way and can be beneficial in fashions you might have never imagined before.

I am very excited and hopeful that the film will bring this story out to entirely new audiences, as its themes feel especially pertinent in an age where it can be a bit too easy to spew vitriol at things/people one might not understand.

My teacher has the book. She always read it out loud at the whole class.

I am really tempted to read this before the film comes out. I may wait to appreciate the film first then hit the series.
