When I was a kid learning to drive, my father always said, “drive right, pass left”. I follow that advice today, exercising courtesy on the road.

I drove a semi for 19 years and learned to love the granny lane. Only used the left lane to pass the slowest of the slow, or if construction mandated it. Also maintained the speed limit as much as possible. It's not a race or competition. Stay safe out there.

I drove two hours home from the airport last night and some guy was camped in the passing lane the entire trip. He would slow down for a while and then sporadically speed up. When he slowed down to under the speed limit, I would try to pass him in the cruising lane. When he realized I was trying to pass him, he would speed up again. Drove me crazy. Pretty sure he was slowing down to type a text and then would speed up after his text was sent. I really REALLY wish Highway Patrol would pull people over for that... but they don't.
