Just want to add something to this. It's not necessary to counter strafe like you would normally do in counter strike (holding a > releasing a > pressing d for a second to counter strafe) since the character physics are not as 'heavy' as they are in counter, the characters will not slide (they do but not as much as in counter strike, and counter strafing like you would do in CS doesn't make much of a difference if it makes any to begin with) after releasing, so it's not a mechanic really needed in Valorant.

In short, instead of locking your movement with the opposite direction button, the best way to counter strafe in valorant is just switch from A to D and playing on the deadzone like Konpeki is showing in this video.

as a general rule, If your just peeking a corner and you don’t plan on moving until a fight is over (meaning the other person ran away or one of you died) then you don’t need to counter strafe

So I need help with WHEN to counter strafe. I’ve been able to use the phantom and counter strafe propperly. My only problem is when to use it, I’ve tried to counter strafe when I’m exposes but it wasn’t working out well so I tried when pre aiming a corner and I keep getting 1 tapped. I’m ranked s1 (peak s3). Ive gotten into situations where it actually helped sometimes but only in death match. Can someone pls help like do I use it when jiggle peaking a corner or in gun fights when do I stop ( even though I can counter strafe my tracking isn’t at its peak )
