TenZ finds out COUNTER STRAFING is USELESS & here's why...

So from what TenZ has explained, counter strafing will make you move left and right but your bullet will not shoot as accurate. If you stop completely, the bullet hits will hit the target faster and more accurate. So the next time you're in a battle, just let go of all the key instead of counter strafing.

I think he might be so used to strafing, even just a little - that he still did it a tiny bit on the first clip with pearl

This is useful for games above ascendant, people already spect a good strafe and never stoping moving in fights, then try to predict your movements, a peak with a sudden stop can actually help

It works because High Elo players has been counter strafing for so long that they developed a muscle memory to anticipate the enemy's counter strafing.

I thought of this as well, but I saw all the pros still strafing and thought I was just dumb

in low elo, people miss on moving targets so much staying still will get you killed vs someone counterstrafing all the time.

This does not work for any1 below pro or radiant. You stand still and miss 2 shots in IMM you're dead 100% of the time. Tenz just hits his first shot every time so it works. Same with all the pros that just insta crouch spray.

Ngl when val players say counter strafing it seems more of like an all-encompassing term for stopping sideways movement when in CS it’s a timed key press

the thing is, counterstrafing just to stop and shoot doesn't provide that much benefit, but to get used to that timing for when you are jiggling a corner is really useful, and for us normies who don't play the game that much to build two types of muscle memory at once, it is beneficial to learn to counterstraf just to stop, also let's be honest most of us don't hs kill with the first bullet...

Not sure why everyone saying this shit doesn't apply for low elo or only works for Tenz, as someone who never played csgo before valorant, I play like this. In csgo, you need to counter strafe because the movement continues for a short while even when you let go of the key. The intention of counter-strafing is to get that first shot accuracy quicker. Valorant does not have this issue. Also, counterstrafe works better in csgo because of inertia. When the velocity of the character is zero, you get the best possible first-shot accuracy. For example, when you jump in csgo at the maximum height where you are about to fall your sniper is perfectly accurate mid-air for about a fraction of a second. Because of inertia, the speed of the character when it changes direction is slower, giving more wiggle room for your shot to be accurate. However, in Valorant your character moves at the same speed all the time, thus the timing for counter strafe is significantly more unforgiving. Combine that with slower moving agents and bigger head hitboxes, you might as well just focus on mouse aim.

There’s literally still blue in the beginning of his shooting error graph which means he was still moving tho

"counter strafing" isnt actually in Valorant at all, atleast not in the way people think

The entire idea of "counter strafing" in CSGO was that while strafing, pressing a movement key in the opposite direction would cause you to come to a stop /faster/ than you would have, had you simply let go of your strafe key.

But in Valorant this mechanic is essentially non existent. Multiple people have done the actual frame counting with precise artificial movement inputs and counting frame by frame they found that there is absolutely no discernable difference in stopping speed between 'counter strafing' and simply letting go of your movement key.

And this is the case for alot of the more intricate mechanics that are such a main staple in CS like bhopping and server tick rates.

All these mechanics in Valorant have been purposely tuned in such a way that they are relatively easy to pick up and understand for a beginner, without the slurry of arbitrary secondary movement properties that they dont outright tell you about, and would inevitably impact your performance in the longrun.

But as a concluding statement id just like to say that Yes, doing this in game does give you a very slight advantage in the fact that you are more consistently *on the move*

but it does /NOT/ give you an advantage in *stopping speed*

which is the whole reason its even called "counter strafing" at all, as you're countering the effects of strafing.

But yea, any perceived advantage in stopping speed from practicing this sort of thing is you simply gaining experience and understanding of the games actual movement mechanic timing and being rewarded for it *because* its consistent and straightforward.
