5 Steps to Releasing Mason Bees 🐝

Показать описание
Did you know that mason bees are excellent pollinators? They’re actually 120 times more effective at pollinating than honey bees or bumble bees. By introducing native mason bees into your environment, you will inevitably maximize the pollination of your crops to increase your fruit production this year. 🍎🍐
It’s really easy to release mason bees, too! Here are 5 simple steps to releasing mason bees in the spring:
1. Come and pick up some mason bee cocoons and a mason bee kit that includes a shelter, nesting trays, and a predator guard.
2. Place your cocoons in the fridge until you’re ready to release them, and add a container of water nearby to increase humidity.
3. Choose an appropriate location for your shelter. You want to find a location that is south-east facing and 5’ to 7’ off the ground. When you choose a south-east location, the sun hits the shelter early in the day, waking up the bees so they can get to work pollinating for you.
4. Pay attention to what’s happening in nature. When the fruit trees begin to bloom, it’s time to move your mason bees to their shelter!
5. Remove your mason bee cocoons from the fridge and place them directly in the shelter on top of the nesting trays. Don’t forget to reattach the predator guard.
As an added bonus, mason bees are very friendly and highly unlikely to sting, so they’re great for kids, too, who have an interest in nature and want to watch the bees in action.😉
Come get your mason bees and have a bee-utiful day! We’re open every day until 5 p.m.
