hehe. booze can do that. I will always remember a friendly tournament I attended. It had a beer competition attached to it (they counted the number of beers you ordered as a team), as a sort of 'alternative party prize'. This team of... I think Chechyans was going for it. During the game, drinking on the bench, sub in, let the others have some. You can imagine. They were... lightly drunk as I think this was early in the midday.
They were all quite heavyset, and were playing against a team of young guys (mind you, this was pretty low quality basketball. Think old guys vs inexperienced running kids). They were behind something like 15 points with 4 minutes to go. And then they all started chucking threes. They could not miss. They played a tight zone, got the rebound (because the inexperienced kids just went up there after one pass), jogwalked to the threepointer line, and heaved. Two or three of them didn't even leave the zone and stayed behind... They managed to win by 2 points or something. Absolutely nuts. But it was all muscle memory, all the pressure and care washed away by booze. They didn't bother getting blocked, the just slowly jogged to their space, didn't care if someone was in front of them, and just chucked it like the field was empty.
