Good to know that the mylar and plastic "super shelter" actually does something. Thanks for another great video.

Truly, loved that you added a bit of comedy to this one and the cat! I was like, WTH is that? A bobcat creeping up on T2. It all just added to the comedy elements. Keep up the good work and hope to chat with you sometime soon.

Very nice video. I do think that Auston is nice letting you have the food. ( I am sure that you all worked that out.)

this was pretty funny. plastic tarp over the mylar blanket is redundant since mylar is waterproof and windproof. But, you bought mylar blankets, which is best used to wrap yourself in to retain your body heat. If you were worried about precipitation, then you could have just done the a-frame with the tarp, but used the mylar to wrap yourself in.

Hey guys. A greenhouse type shelter can work. Extra insulation behind and underneath it can help retain the heat longer, but regardless they are fire/heater/sunlight dependent and having "cargo tape" does help. I have these as an option, but having real blankets and "real" shelter like sleeping bag/tarp really is the way to go when ever possible. take CaRe

If I recall correctly, the Super Shelter was invented and/or popularized by Mors Kohanski (probably misspelled it), a long time survival instructor in Canada. Mors career included decades of teaching survival to Canadian Air Force pilots and crew. If you look at a cockpit on a fighter, extra room is at a premium. End result, your gear needed to be small, lightweight, and carried on your person (including your vest). Because both Canada and Russia have boreal forests, (yes Alaska too), he focused on that. So when mylar and plastic sheeting became available, he used them. Makes sense, what can you use to make the best shelter that fits in the smallest space on your person. The fact that both Canada and Russia have large areas of unoccupied space in the form of boreal forests means that he was thinking of having to move long distance or stay in place for a long time.

Be careful with Walmart Paracord. The 550 Paracord by Hyper Tough has a weight limit of only 110 lbs despite being labeled as "550 Paracord".

Too bad you couldn't splurge on a box of garbage bags so you could fill a couple with leaves as a matress. Of couse it could be done with just a pile of leaves as a bed but the bags would probably make gathering them easier.
