Episode 1 - The very basics of creating a simple stage set model in the free online version of SketchUp. Yes it's in feet and inches (sorry) but a lot of stage set departments still use old money.

' = feet
" = inch

if you want to create in metric simply type m or mm when creating.

In episode 2 we will improve this model and create a new one from scratch with lovely curves!

Hi David.
I work in film and tv in construction and I want to use sketch up to draw up breakdowns for making sets in the workshop. This to me seems a much quicker way to achieve that rather than traditional draughting methods on a drawing board. I want to thank you for your first tutorial. It's got everything I need to start familiarising myself with all the tools and gaining confidence going forward. I shall look forward to watching your tutorial covering curve work. Something we do an awful lot of as you will know.
