My Profile:

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for six MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

What a great idea, and timely. I fished a walking bait tonight and was thinking I'd fish a fluke tomorrow for baitfish busting bass and now I think i'll put the two together and see what happens.

Matt, I can't thank you enough for sharing this tip! I tried it out this evening with a bone Sexy Dawg dragging a white fluke, and while I didn't catch a double I did land a nice 3.5lb largemouth. It's been a tough year on my lake for big fish so this one is actually my largest bass of the year so far. It crushed the fluke as it drifted and sank on the pause, and like you said the Sexy Dawg became like a bobber. One of the most fun bites I've ever had. I've never caught a double before but it seems like an attainable goal now that I know this rig works. Thanks again!

When there is an abundance of small bait here in Chesapeake Bay Country we use a similar rig for striped bass but we run a fluke or action tail 36 inches behind a surface lure the hooks of which have been removed to prevent fouling on the cast.

I agree with you fun way to fish. Topwater is my favorite. I use a front runner but will tie up your idea to give them a different look. Thanks, take care.

I like this, Matt. Much like fly fishers using tandem bugs for trout—only much bigger 😄…….Thank you 👍🎣

Grandpa and I would use any type of floating minnow bait with short mono dropper and a white 2 inch twister type tail. Caught buckets full of white bass, crappies and any other fish after shad below dams! Had not thought of those days in years. Thank you!

My brother in law used to do something similar. He would tie on a small original Rapala (don't remember the exact size) about 24" behind a buzzbait. It was crazy how many good sized bass he would catch on the small Rapala!

Vixens and Kicknockers are where it's at! The Butt Runner! That's a great idea and great name. Another great tip, you pump more cool ideas than anyone on youtube. Thanks Matt! Was really pulling for you at Lacrosse, congrats on making it to the knockout round.

Great video Matt. Ive often come up with ideas like this but rarely try them but instead dismiss them as just another of my hairbrained ideas. This is one of those ideas that I pondered but never tried. I will definitely try it now.

Bro great tip! That looks even better than the front runner. Those Vixens are very hard to get! Best channel for pro bass tips in my opinion!

I use the donkey rig with 2 flukes. Works fantastic.

I like it. I’m gonna use a longer leader tho to give the fluke more action

Brilliant idea... I'll give it a go sometime. Tbh I'm learning from you faster than I can apply it but- that's what's great about these videos- they're not going anywhere. Thanks again Matt.
