Grimes and her baby boy are on a first-name basis! The musician revealed that her and Elon Musk's 1-year-old son doesn't call her "mom" or "mama" and instead uses her real name only – Claire. Grimes explained in a behind-the-scenes video for Vogue ahead of her Met Gala appearance earlier this week that she isn't sure where the little one got the idea but admitted that she doesn't mind because "mother" isn't a title she's quite comfortable with.

I think theres a huge comfort in being able to call someone "mom". i hope that despite her discomfort, she'll be able to allow her kid to call her mom. It instills respect and its also very comforting for a child to say it.

My best friend when I was a kid called his mother by her first name, and I remember it being very weird.. He basically raised himself because she was around but not present. I don't know enough about child psychology to have a set opinion on it, but it feels like there is a distance between mother and child when that sort of thing happens.

The reason why you have parental names within your home is to establish a sense of relationship between you and your child. That's to maintain the nature of respect within the household. She doesn't identify with "mom" or ideas that are associated with motherhood. That's understandable. But it is still necessary to place boundaries while the child is growing up. Child psychology doesn't care about your individualism and anti-society protest.

Says she being a mother was rebirth artistically, like is that all?
She Always tries too hard to be different and eccentric but ends up looking like a teenager who's obsessed with mythical creatures and anime because that's how they try to be different and unique and quirky.
Doesn't identify with the word mother after birthing a baby to push her selfish agendas. Denying that child to not be able to attach to her mother as that and not being able to feel that comfort by doing so because I feel like it gives one a sense of comfort and attachment and safety in calling their mother mom mama or whatever.
This kid is gonna end up messed up because his parents aren't mature enough and are not okay in the head. While his mother is a narcissist who is too desperate to be a teenager at 33 and his father another narcissist who can't act his age too.

People are mad over stupid things that doesn't matter. I see a kid smiling and laughing, and parent spending time with their kid. What else is there to say? It's easy to criticize someone when you don't know them.

Hopefully is just a matter of wording. As long as she is caring mom, it should be ok. Maybe his safe word wont be mom, but claire. Once my mom wanted me to call her by her first name, as a punishment for doing something bad, but i got giggles as i tried and she giggled as well, so that failed. But each to their own.

My friend growing up called his mom by her first name because she didn’t wanted to be in higher place than her kid or something. They have very close relationships and they’re like friends.

I have seen 18 year old kids being more mature than this 33 year old lady with a kid. Such Narcissistic hippies having kids should be a crime against humanity. That kid trying will be scarred for life.
