I recall when he joined The Practice as Alan Shore and I realized how great a devious character he played. In one episode a murderer burst into the law office with police in pursuit and Alan defended him and he went free, at the end, Alan ditched the murder weapon in a dumpster, he had it the whole time preventing a conviction, I was just amazed at how well played it was by James Spader, I was surprised that he had it, well not anymore,
