Insta360 X3 NOT Connecting to Computer (FIX)

Plot twist: Make sure that the USB-C cable is compatible with the COMPUTER [edit] you are using. I’ve found that the small USB-C cable provided by Insta360 for my X3 does not allow my new MacBook Pro to see the camera even in U-Disk Mode. Instead, I use an orange USB-C cable for one of my LaCie Rugged external drive to do the job. I’m guessing this is due to Apple creating their own propietary USB-C format to squeeze money out of third party cable manufacturers (and consumers who buy their products).

I just unboxed it, updated it. Tried the USB it came with directly with no adapters into a windows 10 pc, not recognized....

Thanks so much. Even though I've realized before that with some devices, you have to plug directly into the PC, it happens so few times that you forget this option whenever things aren't working as they should. Thanks. Maybe I'll remember this for the NEXT time!

I had the last of the intel MacBook Pro's with Touch Bar and used to connect to my Insta360 x3 without any issue using the included USB-C cable. I upgraded to the MacBook Pro M3 chip and tried using the same cable and it would not work no matter what I tried. 

I then connected the Insta360 x3 using an Apple USB-C cable included with my iPad and BINGO it magically worked!! 

Dear Apple, here is a thought... prioritise users over investors!

Cool thanks I found mine wasn't connecting because I connected the Mac to the USB-C port on the Insta360 mic adapter which does not seem to allow data through, I removed it and it works fine

Its the cable! Try other usb(c) to usb c cables that have two way sync. I had to try a few and then it worked!

so… this video didn’t help me, BUT a I figured it out thanks to some of the comments. I used a small usb A to usb C cable and it wasn’t working. I think it’s the same cable that came with my camera, but I could be wrong because I have a ton of cables eveverywhere in my room. So I tried switching it for a cheap 4 ft long cable I got from the gas station, and success!! My windows laptop can now recognize the camera. Just hoping I can transfer the files without issue now 😂 🤞
