This had to be one of the best example of a Monkey's Paw style wish. Peter got what he wanted, but in the end it came at a terrible and unforeseeable cost. On one level, this was a great story, and it makes you want to see what happens next. On the other hand, why can't poor Peter Parker catch a break?

I like how Robbie Lay's it in on Jonah how selfish and petty his decision was. Jonah may finally dealt a fatal blow to spider man but not before losing 2 of his best employees and probably lose the respect of his other employees that liked Peter.

Super like it..very cool. Would like to have seen what Robbie and Gwen do in order to clear Peter's name. Also nice to see that he truly has ally's in this alternate story. Also Robbie quitting the Bugle - PERFECT

When I was a teenager I would go to this great comic book shop in Cleveland. It was run by Tony Isabella who wrote this What If comic. Before it came out, he told a friend of mine and I the plot. (Who knew from spoilers back then.). I will never forget him telling us the dramatic ending with JJJ storming the wedding and Spider-Man having to escape. So cool.

This reminds me of a Spider-man/Carnage comic where he does marry Gwen, but his daughter MayDay Parker who has been infected by the Carnage symbiote, confronts older Peter. She reveals that she hates him because when he was with MJ he found out she got pregnant and he left her and she became homeless. She then finds out that he has a son with Gwen and he becomes Spider-man.

That's all I remember but it's a really heavy comic

This was a great What If issue to pick up back in the day - added bonus that the legendary Gil Kane did the artwork since he also did the artwork on ASM 121 - the original "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" story.

Since everyone knew his identity, Peter could go to Dr Strange and cast a spell so that everyone may forget he is Spider-Man. Problem solved, as long as Peter stays quiet this time unlike what happened in the movie

Peter would’ve always ended up with MJ in canon because one of the main reasons why Gwen died is because Stan Lee and writers alike saw a sore in popularity for MJ’s character and her romance with Peter, thus making Gwen dispensable.

I feel like if this was the actual main Story we would see an arc or two about Peter as a full on fugitive vigilante and seeing how multiple side characters are affected by it like JJ seeing how the villains are not only going after Peter but people that where close to him too including JJ and his own family, we would see Gwen and Robbie work on trying to help Peter maybe with the help of the fantastic four and a certain really good lawyer and finally maybe have harry and Norman work together to help make up for Norman's mistake by having Harry become a hero too.

Fun Fact: There's another What If story where Spider-Man saved Gwen. It's also the one where he was stuck with six arms.
Which happened because Morbius was eaten by sharks.

That show had Gwen Stacy and her dad living along with her Dad studying Spider-Man so that he can tell who's real, Do you think he would have slowly found out that his daughter's best friend was Spider-Man?
