Spot on with your review. I just finished reading the book and am left wondering why it's a classic. I wasn't enamored by the book at all.

I was underwhelmed by the book for most of the reasons you described- I totally agree with your review. So much praise around the book made me expect a lot more and I feel like I missed something... I still think it was a good read because I enjoyed the progression and imagery- but I probably wouldn't recommend it

Oh, it’s not just me, then. I’m struggling with the first half of this book utterly confused and hoping that there’s an actual point to the story. I feel like it’s just a ramble of sorts and no real substance.
