The Yellow Wallpaper | Book Review | Horror Mayhem

Charlotte Perkins Gilman wrote a rather good gothic horror short story in 1892 called The Yellow Wallpaper in which we see the main character slowly descend into madness. This is my review of this short story which I read for #horrormayhem .

I read the yellow wallpaper a while back now - I thought it was fantastic . I felt so incredibly sad for the main character … Ive had such a different view point from a lot of other readers on this book, Ive enjoyed listening to other opinions .

Great review! I enjoyed this short story but it was quite a chilling read. Among the writer's other works, I can recommend Herland, an early 20th century feminist utopian novel with a more light-hearted tone, both humorous and thought-provoking.

I have never considered this story to be horror, I thought it was considered women’s literature. How interesting (love the story.)

If you weren't mentally ill beforehand, after 3 months solitary confinement in one room would drive you to be crazy. Is the Yellow Wall-paper a commentary on poor home decorating choices but being unable to change it would drive you crazy? j/k - LOL
