Did anyone in this comment section actually watch the video? He's not justifying either, he's saying pick and choose certain aspects in order to solve current problems. For example welfare or medicaid is more of a socialistic policy that we have. Are we all of a sudden socialists? No, but it doesn't mean we still can't use things from that ideology. There's a problem when people think we have to be "either this or that" as Obama states. Why don't people understand such a basic concept, there are NOT only two choices...

This does not require 'explanation' as all any American has to do is look anywhere in Europe or Scandinavia. The rest of the modern western world has 'socialistic' policies. The tropes of a failed socialist 3rd world country is a distraction. The US often had a hand in designing the failures. Better to explain why your govt. has been lying to you.

Mr. Obama socialist does not work with capitalist. You know better Sir. You are a lawyer and studied law. Cuba, not every child in Cuba has a great job. If that would be true then why do they fled their beloved Cuba? Why 1/2 Americans including minorities refused to live in socialist or communist countries?
