I just realized just now. A fan since day 1, the dual swords shows the perfect representation of Zuko's choices and the war within him.

They should make all alternative endings to the seasons like 'what if Aang didn't get struck by lightning' or 'What if Aang hadn't gone into the Avatar State in the Battle against Ozai'.

This was the episode when Zuko learned people's lives were ruined by and hated the Fire Nation.

I don't blame the mother at all. It's subtle but the family is thinking Zuko could possibly stay with them and fill the void of their son. On the flip side of that Zuko sees he could finally be surrounded by a family that accepts him.
So when the lady finds out he's is fire nation and the Prince she is heart broken on different levels.

I think the part where he went wrong was telling them who he was after using his fire bending. He should have just said he was a wanderer and if they questioned how he knew how to firebend he could just say he grew up in the Fire Nation, but he left because he didn’t agree with their mission to conquer the world. We’ve already seen in the show that Fire Nation soldiers are still human and not all of them really want to conquer the world, but rather are just in the military either by force or because they wanted the experience, so it would make sense for them to believe that Zuko would want to leave the Fire Nation by his own free will.

It was a very memoric episode Ursa’s voice is still give me chills. I think everyone choose Zuko as a favourite character after this.

Worth noting that this episode was written by Elizabeth Welch Ehasz. imo one of the best writers of atla. She also wrote The Avatar and The Fire Lord, The Southern Raiders which are fan favorite eps. All 3 episodes including this showed great characterization and excellent writing. Wish we could've seen more of her work.

This added great complexity to Zuko's backstory. He was selfless, and helped out the son. Even after these actions, he was still outcast by those he protected.
