This is exactly why I think dynamic exercises like kickboxing the heavy bag are of vital importance. It preserves those ‘fighting’ functions of our body. Very primal, and sends signals to your body, ‘hey you still have to fight for your survival here’. Especially now that I’m over 50.

I'm 53 and got out of shape over the years compared to 30 years ago when I got out of the Army. Back then I had muscles and very little fat. Earlier this year, at 6'0", I was 235lbs with 40+% body fat. Thanks to both Thomas Delaurer and Dr. Berg, I am now at 191 with 21% body fat....and I've gained 6lbs in muscle. I still have more to go to get to my goal of 12% body fat and another 10lbs of muscle, but I am feeling VERY good about it. :)

A body in motion stays in motion...a body at rest stays at rest and will waste away quick as you get older. Stay active people, don't just sit around.

I will tell you that in listening to this video I had gone keto for 3 months and still doing it, and I'm feeling much better at 62 and losing weight but of course one thing was getting my got biome in order. I eat very clean in fact I work in a restaurant that's extremely clean eating and I'm a chef so I have no excuse not to do the best I can. The point is is that I have gone through supplement after supplement after supplement while working 13 years in the big box gym industry and some were good some were not so great I do have a nutrition degree so I know a little so I took a leap and bought the seed pre/probiotic and let me tell you after 3 days I am a changed person. Thank you

This makes sense to me. I went on the keto diet at age 59, lost 65 lbs, reversed my prediabetes. I had problems with muscle mass and hair loss, which improved when I changed my macros and increased protein intake.

Wow thanks Thomas ❣️ I’m 70 and have quality protein lunch and dinner. I have 2 meals a day. I’ve been able to add muscle 💪👍❣️

Crucial information, & likewise, the brain. Thomas, thank you. I'd love to see some excercise ideas for middle aged sedentary people stepping into this for the first time, & maybe for those trying to regain mobility, after operations & joint replacements, also.

Thank you so much for all the information that you provide to us. I turned sixty-five a couple of months ago and I also have cerebral palsy. This means that the effects of growing older have been greater upon me. You have convinced me that I must resume my strength training workouts. What is the best way for me to support your channel so that you will be able to continue your invaluable work?

So true. I lost muscle mass by switching from 16:8 ketogenic diet to OMAD ketogenic diet for 1 month.. it’s difficult to consume enough protein. I’m now back to my old routine. I’m 51

According to Dr. Stuart Phillips (a protein expert), the most important factor with respect to muscle mass is resistance training. He described protein as being a verythin layer in terms of importance to muscle mass. with resistance training being of much greater importance. With that said, he recommends a minimum of 1.2 grams per KG, which is not a small amount of protein in my mind.

53yo here. Lost 105 lbs on keto and feeling great. I don't want to enter the cyclical medical/pill/hospital industry. Keto is way more beneficial to my age group than any other.

Covid decimated my muscle mass. Still trying to recover muscle a year and a half later. This is wonderful information. Thanks!
