My Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) Collection! The best retro games for the console

An updated video on my Sega Mega Drive collection! My game collection has really grown over the last couple of years, so I though it was overdue a new video. This time, I answer all your questions about my collection and we had some really great questions, so thank you to everyone who participated. Also featuring lots of CRT TV gameplay of some of the most iconic games on the platform such as OutRun, Altered Beast, Disney Castle of Illusion, Streets of Rage and more!

My God i feel old.... I remember way back when i had my (back then) new Mega Drive, and went out with my parents and brother to buy Road Rash and Madden, even back then going to Electronics Boutique in Southampton, i remember the games being £44.99! Went in about 2 months later and got Desert Strike.
Possibly 3 of the best games that changed me in terms of what gaming was and could be.
Here i am, 44 in September, and still loving gaming.

Nice collection. I have collecting for MD over a decade ago now. I've since hacked my Mega Drive Mini and have the whole library of Sega Megadrive/Genesis, Sega Mega CD, 32X and even the SG1000, Master System and Game Gear running on it. Takes up far less space and is less hassle, whilst I understand the perks of original hardware...this is good enough.

I had a Megadrive back in 1991, I bought it with my first pay-check at 16. Here I am at 49 and I have just won one on eBay to start the journey all over again. I’m glad I came here to pick up some tips again 😊

Great picks for the Mega Drive. Altered Beast is such a weird and wonderful game 😅 One little rec would be Kid Chameleon. Fun and challenging adventure platformer and usually pretty cheap.

I got started on the Comodore 64 a magic machine and didn't proceed past the PS2, i like a tape, cartridge or disc in my hand, downloading is just not the same.

Interesting video. Liked hearing your experience with the mega drive. The Mega drive was my childhood as well as the master system/nes/snes etc but the mega drive was the most significant.

Nice to see younger peeps genuinely invested in these gems of consoles.

we got a SEGA Master System when I was around 3yo.
I always played this game with a little dude on a red motorcycle (which was the first level and I rarely beat it 😀).
always forget what the game was called.
at the age of 5 I finally understood how to play video games properly 😛and loved playing Rainbow Island.

first bought a megadrive 1 in dec 94 with sonic 1 packed in and alien storm/golden axe/ thunder blade cartridge. Upto then I had a nes which I found games really hard to source at the time.

You’ve got a nice collection, we have a very similar mindset and collection, I had the Disney collection with Castle of Illusion and QuackShot but sold it and got the games individually, I have the model 1 Mega Drive because I love how it looks and it has the headphone jack, my favourite Sonic game is Sonic 3 and Knuckles, I like Sonic 2 but it’s kind of overrated in my opinion, with Sonic 3 and Knuckle, it’s the best looking and playing game and it has my favourite soundtrack of all the Sonic games, of course Streets of Rage 2 is also my favourite game in the series and my favourite Mega Drive game. I feel Mega Drive games are more affordable to collect for in terms of retro systems, although it’s best games are getting expensive now, my most expensive game in my collection is Gunstar Heroes which I paid £163, if you like sports games I’d recommend EA Hockey which is less than a tenner on eBay, again great video and collection.
