The ENS Gamal Abdel Nasser amphibious assault ship, also known as ‘the Helicopter Carrier’, bears the hull number L1010. The ship was named after the well-known Egyptian president, Gamal Abdel Nasser.

With superior design, modern electronic warfare capabilities, extensive helicopter interoperability and enormous carrying capacity, Gamal Abdel Nasser plays a pivotal role in the Egyptian navy.

Apologies to any Egyptian viewers for the pronunciation of Nasser’s first name: Gamal. I was using standard Arabic as a reference and I realised afterwards that in Egyptian Arabic it’s actually pronounced Gamal with a ‘hard G’ not Jamal with a ‘J’ sound. I did my best :)

Project 23900, which is being built by Russia as a substitute for Mistral, they rather failed. The deck is specific and possibly non-developmental for aircraft operation. Besides, the landing force and the wing can be placed on a smaller surface

They weren't buit for russia, they were the french, whom was going to sell them to russia until russia went sour so they sold them to egypt
