After you change your oil 100 times, you get the rare golden engine skin for your engine. That's a clean engine congrats!!

Mobil1 synthetic every 5000 miles or so.
A little thought experiment: What if one of the engine's bearings is only getting 10% of the oil flow that it is supposed to get. I would want that oil flow to be synthetic oil.
Regular oil might become varnish further reducing the flow. Until bad things happen.

I've been preaching from this pulpit for years. Regular oil & filter changes provide the cheapest insurance you can buy. My ten-year-old Volvo XC60 with 120k is on a 3, 000 mile/4 month schedule and my 16-year-old Honda Accord with 280, 000 is on a 5, 000 mile/six month schedule. Each uses full synthetic. It should be mentioned here that one of the things that most people miss is start-up on a dead cold engine. Starting and idling for 10-15 seconds before moving allows oil to circulate throughout the engine. This habit will greatly increase the life of your engine.

Ok,
I change the oil filter every 2, 500 miles and add a cup of new oil.
At 5, 000 miles I change the filter and the oil both.
And my engine looks the same.
Why do I do it?
One oil filter are cheap.
Two,
Gasoline,
Every time you buy gasoline at the gas station it is different.
Sometimes you can buy very clean gas.
Other times you are buy trash gasoline and you have know idea what is going into you vehicle.
If the gasoline is low quality, and it is not clean your oil will get dirty faster.
In the past I have driven across the United States, and by the time I get 1/2 across my oil color has changed dark at 1, 000 miles.
At home at 1000 miles it is still clear. Why it is the different gasoline going into my car.
My point is when your oil is black change it. Or when you hit 5, 000 miles, and buy the best motor oil you can.

I wish there were more vids like this - recently did a valve cover gasket and did clean off the old gasket but wished there was something to reference as “clean/normal operating” - lol sometimes I mistake dirty as broken or old

I have the 2.0 Turbo Ecotec with 160, 000 miles and it is still clean inside. I just replaced all of the PCV valves. It requires synthetic oil so I change it every 5000 miles (despite the manual saying it can go 7500 miles). Also, as this is my first car with an engine that is turbocharged, I learned that it is very important to stay on top of the oil changes to keep the turbo happy. Also, use the correct fuel. Thank you.

Just like going jogging without water, engines don't like it either. Got it, I'll go add a quart of water to my engine right now. Poor thing must be parched.

Change your oil once a year or 5000 miles. Whichever comes first.

I bought a used 2015 Mazda 6 with 182 000 km and because the former owner was rich and dumb, instead of changing the leaking valve cover gasket he just added fresh oil each day.
Bro ! My engine’s internals look brand new and no gold at all. Also my cams are in near perfect condition and they were never touched.

My engine oil (high quality semi synthetic) is good up to 7000kms. I reach 7000kms after 18 months. I drive very short trips almost daily. Can I wait up to 18 months to change it?

Is this an ecotec motor? I abused mine and didn't care about it fully intentionally and that's how the motor looked like inside after 140k miles lol
