Excellent catch about the Picardy Third. I also feel as thought that could be a thematic foreshadowing of further exploration of Shaw's character, which perhaps means that we will see a better side to him later, as the final chord changes quality from minor to major signifies hope or redemption.

I think the "she wasn't the first" is a reference to Captain Picard's first command, the USS Stargazer.

Second, during the beauty shot of the USS Titan, that was ST:TMP's theme, not TNG's. Yes, TNG's theme was a faster tempo take on the TMP theme, but it is a nod to the "starship porn" when Scotty takes Kirk to view the refitted USS Enterprise.

How can the Titan be a refit if they are two different class of ship. It has to be a brand new ship altogether. That’s like saying the Enterprise D is a refit of the original Enterprise.

3:45. Picard's "first one" was the Stargazer. He talked about never forgetting his first starship to Scotty in Relics.
7:08. The Next Generation theme was originally the theme of Star Trek The Motion Picture and used in a very long take of the refitted Enterprise when Rear Admiral Kirk went to take command of it. The Enterprise (no bloody A, B, C... :-)

He's very recognizable. It's definitely him. They've used a few Trek veterans in new roles and it's always fun
