How to Make a Silver Mirror with the Tollen's Test

The Tollen's test can help us quickly identify aldehydes in unknown compounds. In a nutshell, the Tollen's reagent is a silver complex that is really good at oxidizing aldehydes. In the process, though, the silver is reduced to its elemental form, which plates out on the glassware as a silver mirror! Special thanks to the NSF for helping to make this video possible.
