ACTUAL Professional ICON tools you can find at HARBOR FREIGHT PART 4

Icon tools locking flex head ratchet and bit set. Look now we all know these companies do their fair share of rebranding with harbor freight being no exception ya see, this set here is nearly identical to something from professional tool company Facom's line up.

Being released all the way back in 2016 the facom r180J31 was the first of it's kind to feature this low profile reversible flex head ratchet all neatly packaged with convenient bits tucked away in it's compact clamshell carrying case. But here we are years later and harbor freight has done it again and partnered directly with the manufacturer to bring us all essentially the same product with more pieces for a sub $50 price tag.

The Facom? Well the lowest price I could find it for is $83 plus shipping but here it's a mere $44.99 DAMN, you just gotta love professional tools at bargain basement prices.

The Facom and Icon sets are made by Hi-Five owned by Bobby Hu, who used to work for GearWrench and designed the ratcheting flex head wrenches.

These are awesome for EDC but for professional use 3 problems:
-Medium backdrag. When a fastener is loose and you can't access it with fingers, you really need a super low resistance ratchet mechanism, or to be able to easily spin the thumbwheel. This one isn't terrible but it could definitely be better.
-Pass-through notch can wear out easily. It'll no longer hold bits against the head, you'll have to keep them in place with a finger or just be very careful.
-Locking flex head splines can be badly machined out of the box. I recommend checking and testing as soon as you buy, make sure the splines look good and each position stays locked under force.

Thankfully HF is super easy on exchanges if you do encounter any issues. This set is great, bit selection is near perfect and is high quality, and the capabilities of the ratchet and extension are unmatched, especially paired with low-profile sockets. I'd recommend it any day for DIY stuff but for professional use there's better standalone micros. I really like my GearWrench one.

I bought a cheap Amazon one, and in comparison mine didn’t come with a flex head or a set of small sockets, just came with torx bits and screws driver bits, which in a way makes it very limited. A tech at my shop had a similar one to harbor freight and it was very useful on like Euro cars because of the tight spots, highly recommended!

I've been using bit ratchets for the last 15 years. I've gotten a couple great ratchets over this time. I have a Klutch I got at northern tool 10 years ago that's been my main everyday wrench. This Icon set is outstanding in comparison. It's quickly becoming my main set.

It needing a couple square bits in there is my ONLY complaint. Honestly, it's an insignificant complaint.

The bits are even really friggin good. Used them in a small electric impact drill. I've shattered bits in a day of lesser quality.

I LOVE mine. One of my many hats is 2 stroke engine work/repair and this set is unparallelled when it comes to chainsaws.
Also working on cars, electronics and "consumer products"
I still use a screwdriver handle style spinner a lot but this thing often initiates the job. And it fits where a lot of 1/4 inch drive ratchets just wont. Great for sensors on cars.

I'd buy a dedicated socket ratchet on this chassis with some thin wall sockets if it were HF available. Would nice to have one "socket only" so the socket doesn't pull the little socket adapter out. Bonus points if it has a little extension and a little universal joint.

Just bought these today because of your video! Thank you. I’m an electrician and this will become super handy. From panels, Tesla Chargers and tight spots my screwdrivers won’t be able to access.

I bought this set end of August after the parking lot sale and got it even cheaper at $25. Perfect for removing the fairings from my bike

I lived in France back in the 70s. Facom is what I bought--by my assessment, basically the equivalent to SnapOn.

Best money ever spent, very well made tool that I use every single day. The bits are barely showing any wear and tear for the amount I use them. Can’t argue with lifetime warranty either also got it for $40 when it goes on sale.

Ive been doing a lot of trim and interior work, as well as engine compartment work on German cars.
That little kit, has saved my butt several times. Recently used it to get some dash screws out of a Hyudai Niro, and the oil cooler screws on a Tiguan.
It was the only tool I had, that would fit.

I had a set like this at a previous tech job. I looked it up on Amazon the other day and it was over $130. This is an absolute steal!

I love having that little set in my box. Comes in handy constantly for those little fasteners you just can’t hit with a screwdriver.
