Hundreds of gardening videos where they reference hybrids, F1, open pollinated, and heirloom, and this is the first time someone's actually explained the difference and how to make a hybrid into an F1. Thank you much.

Looks very much like a neck pumpkin I got from Amish farmer a few years ago.. Tastes like butternut and they make pies with it. I saved the seeds and grew them every year since, some were huge!

Very cool, fascinating info! After watching the whole video, I feel like this is breaking news, could you imagine this being a mainstream OP variety in 50 years!? We bought seeds from you this year, very excited to get growing, although butternut is a favorite I may not be able to grow them this year. Thanks for being awesome :)

Very exciting! The "butterneck" would get me to give space up to grow squash. I look forward to updates and buying the seed from your store when it's ready. I'm a fellow Michigangsta and have learned so much from your channel.

One year about 50 years ago, my grandpa got a very unusual sport in a flat of Early Girl tomatoes. The fruit was the same size and color as a hen's egg. Me I have always loved tomatoes, but I have problems with them causing me canker sores when I eat them. But I could eat as many of these as I wanted without a problem. I wish he had known or cared about saving seeds back then, since I have never had as good tomatoes since.

Luke,
Looks like you have a winner here! Genetics are so cool. I've been working with dwarf tomatoes (less than 4 ft. tall)
because my mother is over 80 and has trouble gardening. I plant the tomatoes in 5-7 gallon pots for he. I set up a drip irrigation system on a timer and all she has to do is go out on her patio and pick her tomatoes. She's so funny, goes out talks to her tomatoes & basil and enjoys the fresh garden flavor.

I had a genetic mutation occur with my green acorn squash I had plants along with Pink Banana squash. I had several of my acorn squash come out as a cream colored acorn squash and I to wilbe saving the seed and developing this new variety starting next year.

I have been developing a pumpkin variety this past year, and it's a fun process! It is shaped like a pear, is the size of a pie pumpkin, and is a light orange. I'm thinking of calling the variety 'Pear Pumpkin'.
Good luck on developing your squash!

This was such a educational and neat video!! That would've been exciting to find!! Can't wait to see more of your videos on the Butterneck squash. We planted out first garden this year Our butternut squash plants are struggling with yellowing leaves that then start turning brown and die (starting with the older leaves and is working its way towards the newer leaves).

Isn’t this the most fun part of growing! Last year, a bloody butcher tomato cross pollinated with a yellow pear tomato....best qualities of both...saved the seeds and can’t wait for spring to regrow!

This is so cool, very exciting! Can't wait to watch and learn from you growing these, and stabilizing the genetics for this variety. Hopefully you can sell these in a couple years, and people can grow them with you!

About eight years ago I had a watermelon grow that tasted like a cucumber once you got to the green part. You could eat it all the way up to the skin and it was still tasty. I wish I would have known then to save the seeds.

How do you know that it’s a mutation and not a cross?

Was I the only one that had to double take at the thumbnail for this video? I hope I wasn’t alone on that 😳😂
