The incredible filmmaker Abel Ferrara is the main reason why this underrated version turned out fantastic. He also made the highly controversial classics Bad Lieutenant (1992), King of New York (1990) and The Addiction (1995) that are all must-see movies in my opinion :-)

Suprised how good this was, far more than just action and running.

30 years old!
I remember watching it 12 years ago at my second house

This is actually my favorite version next to the 1978 film; it acts as a reminder we lose our loved ones to politicians, strong beliefs, side effects of genetics, and news cycles (a story about conformity) inserting so many subversions and subtext into a short amount of time It's also the most thematically relevant version as far as America's personal and political freedoms consuming us The aliens here have learned how to weaponize our emotions against us adapting pre-existing knowledge (is the race more important than the individual?) Also asks if a unitary species is better than human disharmony making indifference impossible This version has an excellent sense of dread along with beautiful sunset backdrops as well as a creepy swamp environment for the creatures to revel in, the practical effects are also very effective making this a pure horror film It truly brings the terror of assimilation and domination in the aftermath of political change to the forefront It's also the fear of things that are supposed to protect you are really out to get you For some fans and critics it might not surpass the previous versions and it was a box office disaster but still has strength in its nihilism gaining a devoted following since then Maybe another remake seems ripe to comment on our increasing fear and paranoia of constant surveillance and invasion of privacy
Out of all the versions of Jack Finney's 'Invasion of The Body Snatchers' book this one is the most fun and action-packed of them all the pacing is a very fast pace which shifts the viewer into high gear from then on out everything is thrown at you of what you'd come to expect at this point from the 1st 2 movies there's less gore and scares and more grossness and creepy atmosphere but the movie is still really fun it gets worse as each moment passes for these people the main family is actually pretty likable just like Sutherland and his friends and McCarthy's a lot of the time certain parts are very painful to watch because one by one a new victim is taken over by the cloning process and you feel bad that they got caught
the filmmakers did a lot of surprises I might add that really spiced things up even if they weren't all happy-go-lucky but the thing I am most thankful for in this second remake is that it actually had a conclusion, the ending was executed better here than the previous movies the reason is because something actually got resolved and didn't end on a sour note of course this second remake still retained a lot of points from the old movies and kept them fresh all 3 versions of the story are really well conceived and didn't resort to the traditional area that a lot of remakes suffer from congratulations to the filmmakers for making 3 separate films by making the same sci-fi/horror tale just as interesting and scary

I always loved the way she delivers those lines from 1:23

I think that only played in one theatre around me when it came out. Watching the trailer, Meg Tilly almost comes across like a mobster during that speech, and I think I felt the same way when I saw the movie. The best part is when Marti is trying to convince the heliocopter pilot to shoot her father.

This was a great film. It had a great cliffhanger ending.

The second & last good remake of *"Invasion of The Body Snatchers"*
after the first remake in 1978.

For how much flak it caught, I expected it to be terrible, and I actually found it to be surprisingly good! Sure, it's got nothing on the seventies' version (that IS one of my favourite films ever), and it's not quite as well-produced as Kidman's "The Invasion", but it's a solid film (Actually, I thought it was better than "The Invasion" in several aspects, and FAR more shocking). Even seen as a sequel to Sutherland's it WORKS.

My God I feel like I'm living this for real. People are so odd since covid.

Yikes what an awful cliched trailer... and the movie is pretty good.
