Quad's Guide to ESF: Basic Flight Controls and Maneuvers

In this video, I go through several things for flying an ESF. To start with, you will want to remap some crucial keys, which I go over in the video. I also go over a couple of the most important maneuvers to learn when starting to fly.

Perfect short explanation of the reverse thrust maneuver. I do it, but I've never been able to explain how I do it to others.

Cool. I was giving this stuff a crack in my reaver and it seemed a lot more precise. I find the Reaver easier to fly, but that's just me. As someone else said, apparently the Mossy is much less forgiving, so it looks like it's practice practice practice time.

Yeah, they're definitely arcadey but I agree that it adds an extra layer to the skill ceiling. Jut look at rocket jumping and bunny-hopping in Quake, those were legitimate skills made possible because of the physics engine.

It is possible, I do it in my racer 3 frame but it's much less forgiving. Hover makes it so easy though...

Yes, the physics are pretty arcadish, but I think it adds a whole other level of skill potential to piloting. Being able to stop on a dime, fly backwards and pop your opponent in the face is just simply too awesome. :D

The reason that the game lagged a bit was because I was streaming to TwitchTV when recording and my internet bandwidth wasn't high enough for the bit rate I was streaming at, which usually isn't a problem, but it was this time for some reason.

You're using hover stability aren't you? I've tried to do a lot of that stuff in a dogfighting 2 Mossie and it just doesn't work as well. My reaver isn't certed enough to do all that jazz
