Exploring a Badly Flooded Gold mine - The Sierra Tunnel.

At the end of a very long day, just as the sun was setting, we arrived at the Sierra Tunnel. In my exhausted state, I was not particularly thrilled to trudge through thigh deep orange, and you can probably catch some of the sentiment at the very beginning of the video (LOL). Well, I quickly forgot about how exhausted I was after a few hundred feet into this awesome abandoned mine. This was some of the most thoroughly-timbered workings I have ever seen! I was very impressed. The timbering in this place was truly unique, I don't think I'll see another mine quite like it.

Unfortunately, I am unable to provide you with interesting historic details on this mine because we were unable to find much information about this place. We believe the main commodity was gold, but we don't know much else. The mine was likely worked in the 1910's or 1920's. There is another adit, but it is caved and did not appear very extensive.

Hope you enjoyed!

I have said it before and I will say it again, the production value on this channel is insane for 15k subs. Every video looks like a full documentary. I especially love the intro with the title and mine map. Very well done

Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us, places I know I'll never get to visit. This is so fascinating and to think minors worked in there every day hauling ore out. Building out those tunnels with those logs, I mean how in hell did they get all that timber in there. You know they were heavy as sh7t.

Cool content, you're quite brave for walking in there, aren't you afraid that you might step in a pothole? Must be hard to see in that flooded mine

No matter how many times I encountered that orange/yellow goop and even knowing that it was not organic I still could never get it out of my head the thought that this stuff was what leaked out of some massive infected wound (trying not to be too graphic) the location of which was never determined. I couldn't get the grossness off my boots quickly enough after leaving the mine. I appreciate your determination to slog through this stuff to record so much of this mine where others would consider it not worth the effort.

I recognized the mine from TVR's video, and I was interested to see what your take on the mud was going to be. You didn't disappoint. Sarcasm was great. Thanks for sharing.

The tone of the intro was like you were deeply and personally offended by the entrance to this one haha

Hi, it really looked like you were walking through a pathway of Torii gates to a Japanese shrine lol, awesome craftsmanship though and very photogenic. That orange mud was nasty but it did really look like peanut butter though, great description. Wasn't this the mine where Justin almost got stuck in that nasty gloop ??. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 🙏💖

Cool video! Were there any adits above this tunnel that the raise may be connected too?

Wow, so much mud and decay. I've been in less foreboding/disgusting sewers! Surprised your o2 alarm wasn't screaming for mercy. This should have been called the Vomit Mountain Gold Mine. Yeech. Thanks for sharing something this unique!
