Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K hands-on: Powerful, but not for everyone

Blackmagic Design’s Cinema Camera 6K is the company’s first full-frame model, offering the benefits of shallow depth of field and good low-light capability. It comes with powerful features for filmmakers, like RAW video capture, great image monitoring tools and high-quality audio. However, it doesn’t have niceties like autofocus or in-camera stabilization, so it’s not ideal for content creators.

Bit disappointed in this review, not only does your sample footage look very amateurish (e.g. shaky, noisy, and wrong colour balance), but there's some mistakes in there too. You say it has mini-BNC ports for audio, but those are mini-XLR, and you can edit BRAW natively in Premiere, no transcoding required.


Also you say it has "no noticeable overheating except on hot days" - does that mean you've noticed it overheating on hot days? That's a major concern for professional shooters if so.

This was a poorly researched video and the fact that you don’t know that BRAW can be used with both Avid and Premiere without transcoding makes you sound like you know less about cameras than the average content creator.

You looked at a camera with the word CINEMA in the title and your big takeaway was that it wasn’t great for vlogging?

The fact that its going to stop working after a day or 2 is going to be sad they don't have weather resistance so I would never just put that camera naked in the rain

Not really impressed there is no ibis and you can get a Panasonic s5iix that has 6k and can do raw and has stabilisation and cost less
