One point of clarification: The Bonuses for the Chimera are for traps, the Chimera Flight and if either or both Chimera Hunters do not play a card. It is only one bonus of 25 points for the partners, not 25 each. However, there may be multiple traps and each one of those is worth 25 points.

For those who do not play Tichu, but are avid card players, this is not a difficult game to play and in many ways is simpler to learn than Tichu. It looks like a lot because of the various card combinations, but in reality, the structure is quite clean.

In addition, Chimera is a quicker game - only 3 players and you stop play as soon as one player goes out by playing all of their cards.

Chimera also has a "Tichu" every hand (the bid), so you are also playing for more points each hand. It is a very aggressive bid game as there is so much reward for little risk. Usually you can cover your bid with point cards and so stand to lose very little, but can gain 80 points or much more. So if you are a fan of sharp card play, then I believe you will enjoy Tichu.

This is a fun game. It's essentially "Fight the Landlord" (Dou Dhi Zou), but with scoring instead of betting. If you want to try it out, without investing in the printed version, find a cheap dollar store deck of cards, with 2 jokers, and mark the cards with a pen to remind you of scoring and to differentiate the jokers. Won't get the great art, but it will give you a taste prior to buying.

Hello video from almost 5 years ago. This is a solid overview, this game sounds interesting! A lot of set options but very clean game I think. I may pick it up to add to my collection of Parade and Arboretum.
