Scottish person here - Pixar did an incredible job with this film. The ethereal feel of the woods is a perfect embodiment of the magic of the Atlantic oakwoods or the remnant ancient forests of Moray. The story sits perfectly with the canon of Gaelic fairy tales. And the music - no pastiche here, this is the real deal. I know the entire production team spent many weeks in Scotland, just absorbing the feel of the country, and they absolutely nailed it. Slainte.

I have terrible mommy issues and it's the same way between my mom and grandma, it goes on and on between the mothers and their firstborn daughters (this is in my family, not invalidating the many other girls with the same struggles!)
Everytime I see these mother-daughter type movies or shows or whatever, it drives a stake through my heart, I wish I had that relationship revival so badly, or that bond in general. Even though we never speak and when we do it's not good things, I still want that strong relationship with her and I still wish she could see I want to be her friend, her family, her daughter. I want the same thing for her and my grandma, they have so many unresolved issues and it hurts to see them drift farther apart every year because of it. All of us have been through so much and I think we're alot more similar than we can even see. I just wish they could break through that wall of pride, sense of independence, sometimes even self-pity, and see that I want us to be happy. And I hope it happens before it's too late :(
I didn't mean to project, but this song just touches me in such a way 😭 All of y'all going through these family relationship issues, ilysm, we're in this together 💖

Brave is so horribly underrated. deserves so much more than it gets. i keep coming back to this movie- it’s just flat out amazing.

This song is the most beautiful and accurate mother - daughter (or son) relationship songs that has ever existed~

It reminds me of the fights I've had with my mom, and how looking back, and they were so silly and pointless. A mother is one of the most important people you will ever have in your life, and we're not supposed to take that connection for granted. Embrace every day with her  <3

Brave, Mulan, and The Princess And The Frog. All the best Disney movies ever.
Btw, the beginning of this song sounds like it was in Life Is Strange.

Lyrics
This love, it is a distant star,
Guiding us home wherever we are.
This love, it is a burning sun,
Shining a light on the things that we've done.
I try to speak to you every day,
But each word we spoke the wind blew away!

Could these walls come crumbling down?
I want to feel my feet on the ground,
And leave behind this prison we share!
Step into the open air.

How did we let it come to this?
What we just tasted we somehow still miss.
How will it feel when this day is done,
And can we keep what we've only begun?

And now these walls come crumbling down,
And I can feel my feet on the ground!
Can we carry this love that we share?
Into the open air. x3

This love, it is a burning sun.

The lyrics to this beautiful song is so fitting for the turbulent relationship between a mother and child. Especially a mother and her daughter. At times in our pursuit of greatness for our children, we forget what really matters - Can we carry this love that we share, into the open air....

How lovely to think that Julie was also pregnant with her second daughter when she recorded this!

This movie is so nostalgic for me. I saw this the year it came out. The late 2000s, and 2010s were my childhood. It’s like I wanna go back to my childhood sometimes, but sometimes I don’t. And nostalgia just makes me feel like I don’t wanna live, but I don’t wanna die either.

I just adore this song. I'm from Australia but my dad is Scottish, and whenever we went to his parents house all of us grandkids would dance around the living room to Scottish Gaelic music. It's one of my fondest childhood memories. I've been to Scotland four times now, the most recent being the end of last year just before the pandemic hit, and it's my favourite place in the world. It's just so beautiful, and there's an air of magic about it. 💕💕💕

It’s kind of absurd how much people hate this movie. Every time I watch it, my soul is taken into captivity by the profound themes and emotion that they manage to portray. There’s something so mystical about seeing problems you face in your daily life infiltrate beautiful worlds of animation and characters. I don’t know how to explain it, but it makes life for me slightly more bearable. I love this age where movies and animation are used to showcase the world’s sadness and wonder.

My mom and I watched this movie.

Mom: Would you turn me into a bear?
Me: Yeah. I would if I had a magic cake from a witch...
Mom:... Well darn.

This song makes me feel so many different emotion. Sadness because of the relationship with my mother, happiness because I know I'm not the alone, and multiple others.

I didn’t know if I would enjoy Brave. I wasn’t sure about the art style. But somehow it’s one of my favourite Pixar movies. The visuals are stunning, the characters compelling and relatable, voice acting spot on, and the music is phenomenal.

I love how there were songs in this movie, and none of the characters sang them
I just love that. They just captured the moment, and the characters' actions in the scenes with the songs were perfect
