Colon vs. Williams HIGHLIGHTS: Oct. 17, 2015 - PBC on NBC

In a matchup of unbeaten fighters, Terrel Williams notched the 15th victory of his professional career with an upset of Prichard Colon to kick off the PBC on NBC broadcast.

Both fighters were penalized in a testy affair, with Colon being docked two points in the 5th round for a low blow, then Williams a point in the 7th round for a punch to the back of Colon's head that delayed the fight for several minutes.

Colon was knocked down by Williams twice in the 9th round, then was disqualified before the 10th, as his corner began to remove his gloves after the 9th, citing that they thought that had been the fight's final round.

It’s so sad that this guy is allowed to fight. He knew exactly what he was doing and he only did it for his own greed. He would have NEVER ever beaten Prichard if he had to actually fight him like a real boxer. That’s with skill, strategy and in action tactics that Williams never had through his entire career. Clearly as we just watched, it is not his boxing skills that keep him in this industry. He has good management and people in places to get him where he needed to be. He will have to deal with God’s wrath. He understands and knows exactly why and what he did wrong.

The ref told both of them after the low blow, no more low blows and no more back of the head punches or he’ll disqualify them. He got punched in the back of the head again and he didn’t disqualify him. That referee and Williams need to be held accountable. Disgusting both of them. Idk how they sleep at night

Williams deserve every single bit of hate. That stupid face he said when he heard the announcer say "Disqualification" and then him repeatedly saying "Knockout, Knockout" is the most disrespectful thing ever. How dare you.

There were at least 20 rabbit punches in that match from Terrell. Something tells me money was involved in this match.

Williams clearly trained up to this fight with the intent to throw rabbit punches to throw 17-0 Colon off his game. I’m sure he had no intention to paralyze Colon, but there is an obvious reason the punch is illegal. Any really hard blow to the back to that area has a high probability to paralyze. Rabbit punches occur sporadically in fights all the time, but they’re usually not hard punches and you get warning.

But Terrel did it multiple times throughout the fight and not just those short punches to the back of neck/head you see sometimes in clinches when the opponent turns their head away. Terrel threw big, wind up shots to the back of Colon’s head and neck when he had clear view of his target. Very dangerous. Very deliberate. Therefore Terrel Williams deserves every bit of hate he will get for the rest of his life for paralyzing Prichard Colon.

Williams has probably even convinced himself that it wasn’t his fault, so he definitely deserves the frequent reminders that we know it was his fault, from people who newly discover this story every year.

Williams really mastered that paralyzing back-of-the-head shot….and it’s despicable. People don’t realize how vulnerable the brain is at the back of the skull. The concussive effect when the brain is struck at that angle can be incredibly damaging and it is why punches to the back of the head are illegal in professional boxing. Boxers will often “rabbit punch” in a pitter-patter fashion to the back of an opponents head during clinches because when done repeatedly it can make the other fighter disoriented.
Cologne never recovered
after that illegal first shot to the back of the head. He was probably concussed, dizzy and confused as his brain began to swell inside his cranium. Tragic.

Absolutely criminal actions by Williams, & incomprehensible incompetence/carelessness by the ref. Praying for Mr. Colon! If there's any glimmer of good in this tragic fight, it's that Colon might have been killed if the fight continued into the 10th round. For Williams to win by "disqualification" is a pathetic irony.
