Goldstein had a history of stopping fights too early. A fight or two before this one, his premature stoppage almost incited a riot and the commission warned Goldstein that it better not happen again.

I’m not trying to excuse his actions, but this fight was just the perfect storm, now factor in how brutal that era was and all the gay bashing one man did to the other prior to the fight, a trilogy at that, a lot of hate and bad blood. It represents the first time death was captured on television. So unfortunate!!!
