Lewitt Connect 6 - A Great Interface with a Big Weakness

So Lewitt just made an audio interface, and not going to lie I had high expectations! Lewitt frequently comes to market with incredibly innovative technology, and although this interface definitely has some unique (and game changing) innovations, it seems to be at the cost of some pretty standard stuff? Why?

Super helpful review: one of the only ones I’d ever take the time to comment on. Your criticisms are precisely the ones that will drive me crazy, and I’d pick this up in a heartbeat if Lewitt fixed them. Hope they watch this! Thanks again

Thanks Ricky, very helpful. With so many products in this market segment, it starts to get very confusing. You help to cut through all the hype and get to the key issues. Cheers, Peter.

Nice video. I have to give kudos to Lewitt for linking to this video from Facebook. That's how I got here.
And yes, a high impedance input or switch is critical.
Also, just a note: Even if your mic pre has lots of gain an inline booster can still be helpful for a cleaner signal from low output mics. When you push the gain very high you always raise the noise floor (once over 50%-60%). An inline booster like a Cloud Lifter or a Royer-DB20 (which I have) these provide a few DB of ultra clean gain that makes the preamp not work so hard and doesn't raise the self-noise floor. So, having 72db gain is great but an in-line booster can improve things when you are ready to invest a little more money.

This information was very helpful, thank you! I am not an artist, just a gamer haha but regardless the info helped me out a lot, and I did purchase the Connect 6 as it felt it had the best of what I was looking for. I was tired of gaming headsets and sh*t audio. Now i can have good headphones, good mic and proper monitors for gaming and editing.

Yes! Great review and great articulation of the needs of music/content creators. I'd love to see the company respond. Thanks!

Can the lack of Hi-z input have a workaround of using a small desktop mixer for the bedroom musician? The high impedence headphones thing is a bummer but paired with a good pair of headphones it's all good yeah? Looking in vain for a replacement for my iconnectivity audio 4c...the only other interface that will connect a phone/ipad too! USB c anyway. Any news on a new iteration? I can't find anything

Your reasoning for wanting a "small interface, out of the way, " is precisely why I still use a presonus USB 96...

After ten years, I can finally mix at a professional level so it doesn't matter what mic and preamp I use anymore tbh. Song will be dynamically perfect (so long as performance is good)

I will say, I recorded through other interfaces and can hear my presonus had a layer of "film" covering to it, but it almost sounds analog so it's cool with me lol

Hello! Enjoyed the video! Are you doing post processing to your voice in this video? It sounds really great. If you are what's your processing chain? I'm siting here with my sm7b and it does not sound as good as yours!

I purchased the Lewitt Connect 6, but could never get it to work on my PC. I am unsure if was supposed to be plug-&-play (in which case it failed), or if they expected me to go into the BIOS and disable the integrated audio on my motherboard. And if that's the case, then why didn't it come with instructions to do so?

Hey let’s say I wanna go straight to SM7B and I’m using it for making songs.
I wanna get vocaster one since it doesn’t require cloud lifter.
Are you okay with this or should I get a different interface for SM7B.

Steinberg FTW and Rodecaster are the only two interfaces I would use for both music and podcasting. Nothing else comes close in quality and function.

Thanks so much for the review - this interface might actually be a game-changer in the WFH market as well. With the dual USB-C inputs, can this be used to simultaneously provide XLR input/quarter-inch output for a PC and a Mac without a KVM switch?

Damn. I was gonna get one. But all of this directly correlates with shit i hate in interfaces. Evo is king for now i guess, perhaps you can try out that new ssl.

Also idk if you noticed it but your email pops up during the guitar testing, covering the hi z title.

What makes it worse is i’m probably the quickest to talk shit about specifically the um2, and it literally shines above in half the shit i need from an interface. I am blown away by that. Behringer just makes you download asio4all as their “asio driver”. Yet they have the necessary setup for good music results. Insane.
