Gran Turismo Sport Beta vs GT6: A Generational Leap?

An early look at the improvements Polyphony Digital has brought to PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro in its first game of the current console generation. Gran Turismo Sport vs Gran Turismo 6!

I think it looks fantastic. You know, Forza 6 has 2D trees as well. Heck, all 60FPS racing sims have 2D trees. Name one that doesn't. People just love to hate on GT. Framerate seems to be the only glaring issue here.

Rewind back to 1997, having just played GT for the first time. You would surely predict, such was the game's technical competence, that in 20 years the series would have evolved sufficiently to include;

A full damage model
Mechanical failures, random or otherwise
Commentary or pit lane communication
Realistic racing calendars and tournaments
3D trees and backgrounds

The environment alone is a huge leap, I remember that was one of my criticisms with GT 5 was the environment not being as sharp and now that isn't the case

Surely the 'biggest shake up in graphical quality' for the series,  occurred from GT2 on the PS1to 3 on the PS2. That was a massive advancement. Far bigger than 4 (PS2) to 5 (PS3), imho.

you know when I first watched GTS footage I didn't think it was that much better either but putting them side by side really highlights how much better GTS looks, its almost like comparing gt4 to 5 (ok maybe not that drastic) but I can definitely tell there is a generational leap whereas if you ere to put gt 5 and 6 beside each other and not label them I wouldn't have a clue which is which

The replays look so good in this game! the motion blur makes everything feel very nice.

Non-biased opinion of a grown man who's been playing both GT and Forza since their respective first titles. GT Sport is NOT what I want from a Gran Turismo game, a heavy focus on eSports and simulation accuracy was never something I really cared about, the physics were always good in GT games and I was never really itching for this accuracy that they seem so hell-bent on pursuing. GT6 had some issues (My biggest was the awful third person camera, very stiff and locked in an awkward position that I simply didn't find comfortable), but as a GT game, overall I think it achieved what it was trying to do incredibly well and I'm glad the game was supported for two years with free content updates, when I heard GT Sport was going to act like a "fresh start" for the GT series I was kinda hopeful, Polyphony could finally ditch those old car models and textures they've been using since GT4 and start completely fresh, unfortunately that isn't the direction they're taking, they're instead going for a higher level of realism and accuracy, a lot like other racing sims, but in my opinion, GT was never a good racing sim, but a good DRIVING sim, the racing elements of GT games were always pretty bare-bones compared to the competition on the PC and instead focused on being the ultimate car game for any car nut. That's why I loved Gran Turismo.

I don't think it's changed much. you get more detail, but it's more of a patch than an upgrade. Gtsport is literally Gt6 remastered.

GT7 made a small leap from GTS, honestly it feels like PS4 game running on PS5 more than anything else

this euh no just no ps4 is almost 4years old and look what a dissapointement people upgraded their consoles for a real generational leap like uncharted4 horizion zero down .... not this this looks like game that was made for the ps3 then ported to ps4 with better visuals

Why did you guys turn the brightness way down on gt6? Should've had the same settings if you want to compare visuals. Unless the whole game took place at dusk, there's no way gt6 was that dim.

actually gt6 doesn't look even that bad for a game on a console which is more than 10 years old!
