Tutorial to show how to get "My Computer" and "My Documents" back onto the Desktop

I came back to my desk, and the "desktop" had disappeared. Right clicking on the otherwise blank wallpaper does not cause anything to appear - no dialog box, no nothing, just a bunch of big tiles for programs. It is as if my computer decided it was now a phone. Can someone tell me what happened?? And how do i get my desktop back.
