Sony FS700 with Odyssey 7Q - ITU709 vs SLog

For all of us micro budget film makers that learn a lot of the finer details of film making on the internet with a range of in depth tutorials, i wanted to show the benefits of flat looking picture profiles like S-Log in the Sony FS700. Although shooting with this on can look dull the benefits are amazing.
Here Ive shot with FS700 into the Odyssey 7Q (4K2ProResHQ) with both ITU709 and also S-Log. Camera with same setting on both shots (Cant remember what setting but exposed for best on trailer).
Obviously if you dont have the time spend hours colour correcting then ITU709 is a great straight out of the camera picture profile but....... as you can see the benefits of bringing back highlights and shadows in the SLog is worth the extra time on correcting. The shed on the right hand side of the shot was basically impossible to bring back with ITU709. With SLog exposure look much more even.
I hate when clients watch me shoot with SLog because they think this is the end product will look like, we must always re-assure them this is not the case.
Anyways my point is, if you have the time to color correct then SLog is magic. Thats the end of my uneducated rant. Cheers

Thanks to Braj the Cocker Spaniel for being talent

Great talent you got there on the cocker spaniel.  Question though, Ive ownded an FS700 for about 2 months now and have only gotten to used it a handful of times. Ive shot ENG professionally for many many years with Betacam so this is all new to me. To shoot in S-Log do you have to have the external recorder like the O7Q?  Where on the menu settings can I shoot S-Log internally ? Thanks.
