I have a beautiful red boy that lives in my yard. I always whistle back at him when I hear him singing to the girls! He always replies back too! hehe

The Cardinal was my mother's favourite bird. Our house with filled with Cardinal statues and miniatures. (I live in Southern Ontario where Cardinals live all year.)

I had read that the cardinal kept the same mate their whole life?
I am blessed in abundance with Cardinals here in Kentucky. I feed them all year round. I had at least 20 red birds eating from my feeders this morning. A beautiful colorful site to see.

Fantastic video! I loooove cardinals, and there was some great footage that I hadn’t seen before, and I’ve seen a lot of cardinal footage and photos lol. Is that a leucistic cardinal at 2:56? Very beautiful! Also, I had read that in captivity a cardinal once lived to 28 and a half years old 😮

Pretty birds! We don’t have them in Washington - always love to see them when I visit the E Coast 😊❤️. Have you done a video on Evening Grosbeaks? We see them once or twice a year for a week or two at the feeders when they are migrating through the area... they are interesting and beautiful 😊😊

I visited relatives in Glendale, Kentucky in September in the late 1990's and tried to find at least one cardinal. I'd lived in Indiana when I was young for awhile and really looked forward to seeing cardinals again. I didn't see any cardinals while in Kentucky during that time. I asked my family why, and they said the Cardinals had flown south for the winter. 🤔

I hadn't thought about it for awhile, but Cardinals are often shown in paintings with snow. So, obviously they aren't migratory birds, yet they weren't in KY in September. Can anyone explain this? My relatives said they only saw them during the summer months.

A lot of them nest in my backyard, but this year it has been a real decline. I couldn't provide food for them like I usually do. I like to buy mainly suet, safflower seeds, and sometimes crushed peanuts. They always have water, but lately I've been seeing stray cats around. So now I need to find a way to protect my birdies. I just don't know how. Cats are cute, but invasive. I don't want them getting the cardinals, and hummingbirds that come by. Oh boy I'm probably going to have to set up traps and take them to a shelter where they will hopefully get adopted.
