How to Update Java in Windows 7

With the news about Java having a major vulnerability, I have created a video to show you how to update it.

i think i know why, im not too sure, but i think you should go to your control panel click uninstall a program then uninstall java. you can then download java all over again with the new update.

Is this for updating Java or install from fresh? It seems that you're not showing how to update, but how to download and then install. Should we uninstall the current Java before going through your process? ...?

Probably me being dumb, but when I try to install java, an error appears:

'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "jre1.7.0_09-c.msi" in the box below."

Then there's a box underneath that says 'Use source:' then a changeable text box with a 'Browse' button next to it that reads:

I don't know if it's my computer, or I need to change the box to some place I don't know (probably the latter)

Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

I tried to update my version of Java using a similar method to that shown here. but failed  When I try to run the downloaded update program I get the message "Windows can't open To open this file Windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or  you can manually select..."  Wind9ws couldn't find a program to open it... Very frustrating. I have Version 8 Update 25 and am trying to update to Version 8 Update 31 on Windows 7 using Internet Explorer 11.

Do I need to do this to make a MC server? I have bukkit and everything ready, but then it says: 'Java' is not recognized as a windows batch file. Does this mean I have to update java for it to work? I don't know...

YES! I CAN FINALLY GET MINECRAFT AT MY GRANDPARENTS! They give a crap what I download, but I can never get minecraft to wor because they have XP and Java like 1.2 or something crap like that

Yeah, I couldn't get into some servers because i did not have the most updated version of Java after 1.7
