Why follow a liquid diet?

What we will be covering in this video is the pre-operative liquid diet that was prescribed to you by Dr. Gagner for a total duration prescribed to you between 1-4 weeks.
First, let's make sure we know what a liquid diet consists of:
1. Liquid Meal Replacements (Boost DM, Ensure, OptiFast 900 - show the image).
2. Non-starchy vegetables
3. Fluids including : Water, Coffee, Tea
The aim of this diet is to increase chances of post-operative success by:
● Helping decrease the size of your liver
● Kicking it off with a 5-10 % excess body weight loss prior to surgery.
