“What if I told you that the key to treating a neurodegenerative disease, such as Parkinson’s, could be as simple as a nasal spray?” This talk focuses on Dr. Amirah Aly’s belief that intranasal drug delivery to the brain is the key to treating neurodegenerative disease, and that this approach has the potential to make gene therapies a reality for the millions of patients suffering worldwide. She is currently working on developing therapeutic approaches for treating Huntington disease as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Former Northeastern student Dr. Amirah Aly is working on developing therapeutic approaches for treating Huntington Disease. As a pharmacy student at Kuwait University, Amirah realized that she wanted to be involved with medical research that has the potential to provide patients with better treatment options and to help improve their quality of life. This led her to join the Waszczak lab at Northeastern University, where she earned her PhD in Pharmacology.

Im tearing up at the end, I want to live in a world where a cure is worth more than the treatment, not because of the value we place on money but the value we place on Life!

Hi Amirah, thank you, very impressive presentation. It's promising, and it would be great if you could share the targeted timeline as when the nasal spray becomes available.

I'm 61, I had all 3 variants of covid, the first in late 2019 before anyone knew what it was, by far the worst of variants, I've had long covid induced Parkinson's for a year, the difference in my mimic symptoms is it only comes on in afternoon and a vibration sensation in the chest, shoulders, and neck, I have a medical degree and data mining skills that are off the charts, only thing I'm coming up with is every illness and disease is 90% of the time stems from a vitamin and or mineral deficiency

so where can we get these nasal sprays?

How about using clinoptilolite to travel through the blood brain barrier, that attaches to and removes heavy metals and other toxins through positive and negative ionic exchange from the brain, gut and olfactory centre and is excreted from body?

Well how do you want to diagnose Parkinson's before 50 - 80% of dopaminergic symptoms are lost to use that time window for treatment? I read her papers, but there's still a lot of work to do (which is good for her, because it is her job). That's what I don't like about some TED talks: Presenters are dumbing down their topics to a point where it sounds way more promising than it actually is. Drug distribution in the right brain region, correct dosage, bringing the gene and vector inside the cell nucleus are alle challenges in this resort.

I’m so weary of these talks promising a new drug but….don’t look for it in the near future or even the not so near future.
