Love that the video jumps immediately into the content. We saw the title, know what the video is about, no need to do an intro. Bravo.

Mr. Jordan, this is one of my favorite videos you released. I am a 58-year-old, VERY average Joe practitioner, train twice a week on average, total hobbyist, in year 14 with BJJ. You shared principles that, for me, are easier to remember. Learning the mechanics is important but sometimes, the number of details can be overwhelming in a series of technics. But there are numerous times I have no idea what my partner is doing to me but to remember "Keep elbows tight" or "Keep my butt low" or "Keep their feet off of you" is easier to remember for us old guys. Thank you for all the great content!

0:37 letting your opponent grab your head
1:17 not controlling your opponents feet
5:44 not controlling posture in top guard
9:14 not finishing sweeps ( 9:40 prioritize getting your hips higher then your opponents hips )
10:41 riding too high on the back
11:04 not establishing 4 points of connection

Every time I'd figure one of these out (often through Priit Mikhelson/Chris Paines videos), my jiu-jitsu experienced a quantum leap forward. Even at advanced blue belt I still have a few to internalise (lost gold in a tournament recently by not finishing the sweep/sweeping myself), but for beginners, this is pure gold. Unfortunately, whenever one of them asks me for help and I point out that they are making one of these conceptual mistakes, they go away unhappy that I didn't give them a specific technique/details.

Purple belt here. This was great. I caught myself reaching up from bottom the other day. What was I thinking?!

I appreciate videos like this from black belts, because they see these things as basic things that every BJJ fighter should know not to do. They're obvious, or so they seem. I'm always questioning "am I making these common beginner mistakes?" Great breakdown, and there are a few in here that I should really focus on. I'll be referring back to this video.

Also, LMNT is life. I use it daily, for preparing and recovering from a hot day working outside on the homestead, and the same for BJJ classes.

Jordan actually did give us 20 tips (not counting “duping” us with his newsletter, which is chock full of excellent advice and insight). There were two tip number 5s.

There's a ton of good jiujitsu videos and creators but you absolutely are one of the best. Your detail and tips/tricks are amazing. Thank you so much. All these tips will help so much when drilling/rolling.

Thanks for this video. These are great reminders as a blue belt who still makes many beginner mistakes I need to be constantly reminded of these to clean up bad habits.

The thing that is so great about these videos you post and what distinguishes them from most other grappling videos on YT is the conceptual nature. Keep it up! Thanks, man.
