Story Engine is, in my opinion, the best thing to happen to writing since the personal computer. In this tutorial, I answer why.

Sudowrite is amazing! Just started using it a few weeks ago and used story engine to recreate some early chapter in a fanfiction I wrote. Fed the program a very detailed mix of character profiles, story summary, and play-by-play story beats. And the results blew me away; definitely a step up from the pre-existing chapters. Very awesome to see my vision of the narrative elevated to a next-level format!

The outline feature of PaperGen has been incredibly beneficial for me. It organizes my thoughts in a clear and logical manner, which enhances the overall flow of my writing. I now spend much less time feeling stuck in front of a blank page and can focus more on actually writing. It feels like having a dedicated writing assistant that takes care of the structural work for me.

Playing with story engine now. I've found that I had to go back and remove characters from my character list to stop them showing up in the first chapter, because the generator kept adding them in before they should exist in the story. Looks Like I'll also have to use the Style box to control whos point of view each chapter is in as this will be changing. Having a per chapter character list would make for a good enhancement to the engine I think.

What keeps me from using these tools so far is the very limiting character/word/usage counts in place, when it's already written on the wall that in a few years' time, all this will be available for a flat rate, all-you-can-write style. Sure, it all works already, but there's too much you have to work around. You can't paste your book 1 in, then go "this is what happened in the first volume", then go develop plot threads for the next book from there. Character descriptions are sometimes a tricky thing, too, as there's growth-per-book and overall development over the series. Yes, you can specify, but that, again, drives you towards the limits of what you can use. Maybe in a year or three, all this will be growing pains of the beginning times.

Wow, Story Engine seems like a game-changer for AI writing! I've been using boost app social which has AI tools too for generating catchy captions and bios for socials, works like a charm. Have you tried it?

Tried a single chapter from a book I've already started writing. The step-by-step nature of the tool was very useful and automated a lot of the steps we use to build a novel, but the final step where it translated the beats into prose left a lot to be desired. There was almost zero subtext and a whole lot of on-the-nose exposition. I'm not sure you can ever train a robot to NOT tell you what you want it to tell you, but I'm rooting for them.

Just subbed to sudowrite on the weekend. And I'm now typing my info into the boxes.

My only complaint is that the outline word limit is too short for my story. I have a detailed outline on hand for a 27 chapter, dual pov high fantasy romance (total book word count: 133, 000). I'm already a little over 900/1700 words and I'm only on chapter 9! I dont want to waste any words on fixing inaccuracies, so perhaps i should split my story and use story engine for each act as if it were it's own story 🤔?

Hopefully, maybe they can expand the outline to 3000 words in the future if they can afford it.

Besides that, I'm excited as to what will come of my story using this!

What I'm curious about is whether can SE help me complete an outline from an existing story which is already half-2/3rds written? I got to the middle of my novel and thought, 'oh wow! this is a great idea to stick in here!' and wrote the chapter. However, to continue from this new point is giving me all sorts of headaches I can't currently resolve. Can I add in my existing outline and tell SE not to write out an outline for the whole of Act One, but continue from a certain point in Act Two? I have an ending in mind for the finale of Act Three too!

Thank you for your videos! You've really helped me to get the thoughts out of my head and flesh them out in ways I never thought I'd be able to do. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to give the swirling mass of ideas and scenarios in my head a solid and interesting form. I do have a question, though. When creating a character, is it possible to reference characters from other works to build the personality of my own? As an example, could I tell the AI that I want <Character A> to have the swarthy swashbuckler-esq personality of Wesley from the Princess Bride with the sarcasm of Deadpool and the sardonic wit of Dorothy from the Golden Girls, to create an amalgam character?

Is there a way to give it something like in the format of a screenplay, instead of beats? I want to have the control over the dialogue (AI dialogue is very on the nose and lacking subtext), and the AI to fill in the rest.

Hi I'd like to ask if do i really have the complete script of the story on the brain dump? Can it generate me an ending? because I'm still unsure on how I want my story to end

How do I get to an outline after finishing Astor’s engine

The only problem is that it is detectable as not human, and Kindle will reject it unless you mark that you used Ai generated tools to write it unless it was only assisted.

How can you prompt it to avoid the "mushy"?

Maybe I am doing it wrong, but for some reason, I am not able to generate in my chapter pros after importing story beats from clawed AI. My word count for the story beats are less than 2000, is that why?

Price seems much better than the other options. Does sudowrite have forbids 18+ content in your story like other AI story tools?

I love your videos!
What writes better prose, Story Engine(Sudo) or Claude?

Also, for story Engine, how many chapters do you think that you can work per Story Engine project? Given that you only have so many available words for synopsis, characters, outline etc? I don’t that a full book would fit if you have to list every single character and the outline for every chapter

Love your logo! Is sudowrite private or is it like chat gpt where it could all be going to engineers who could leak it?

Is there a way to control the length of the story? For example, in the synopsis section can you include something like "A short story of approximately 10, 000 words."

This is amazing! But does it work in other languages with the same quality?
