The best sermon I’ve ever heard on why Luther was wrong. As a protestant I now see the error of sola fide and “once saved always saved.” Thank God for the truth preserved in the Catholic teachings.

Decades ago, I wanted to find out who Martin Luther had been, so I got three biographies from the library, one by a Catholic, one by a Lutheran, and one by a secular historian. The one big thing that stuck with me was that, when his own disciples broke off from his teachings and started their own churches, he was furious. He had based his theology on the idea that each man could discern the truth, in essence be a mini-magisterium of one. But then he expected his followers to accept HIS version of truth as definitive! It showed, right from the start, the path the Protestant Reformation would go, with churches splitting and splitting again and splitting yet again. I've heard there are somewhere between 30K and 48K different denominations, each one with a human founder who is absolutely sure he (or she) knows exactly what the rest got wrong.

It's so rare to hear priests in the post-concilliar era tell the truth about the Protestant revolt. Thank you!

Thank you so much Father Chris. I just came out of a Calvinist church that I attended for three years. I knew there was something wrong with the teaching but couldn't put my finger on it. Your teaching really straightened me out. This was a real blessing. God bless you.

This is exactly why I left the Christian Reformed Church and joined the Catholic Church twelve years ago. God wouldn’t let his church on Earth be in error for 1500 years! Thank you, Father Chris.

Sorry Father...just finished watching your talk....you did touch on the subject matter I just brought up moments ago in my post. Thank you so very much. I studied at Notre Dame decades ago and continue studying theology. Your talks encourage continued study. Being very poor, my stomach may often be hungry but my mind, heart and spirit are nourished!

Really? Luther’s heart was in the right place? Hard to believe. Sounds like a very arrogant, prideful guy. Also, doesn’t it say in the bible that whosoever changes the words of the bible is to be condemned? So basically, he is like the “angel” that St Paul warned about - preaching a different gospel. Since his “reform” could not have been inspired by God it must have been “inspired” by the enemy.

Thank you, Fr Chris, for putting in such a succinct talk, all the facts about the Protestant Revolution. I'd read all your points over the course of many years & had so wished someone like you would one day communicate them to the World in an accessible format. You've done just that & very well indeed.

I have been able to use talk.s like this when noncatholics try to debate me....the look on their face is priceless when I hit them with facts...they are not use to or have never heard these logical arguments that can be documented
