Andor is doing something very smart in its first season -- bring the loved but under used Imperial Army Trooper back to the screen. We'll talk about that and more for today's Star Wars video!

I know Stormtroopers are more marketable and iconic, but I really wish they weren't used as often as they are in canon. It made sense for Stormtroopers to be everywhere in the OT because the main characters were always around major battles and important operations of the Empire, but other media has kinda implied that there's nothing but Stormtroopers in the Imperial Military. Which is why I was ecstatic when Solo introduced Army Troopers into cinematic canon.

The WW1 hell planet was probably my favourite sequence in Solo. Always cool to see the different variety of Imperial troop types. I've nerded out over that stuff since I was a kid.

The imperial army is looking kinda clean in those black uniforms instead of the normal stormtrooper white.
I wonder if the show will show stormtroopers as being a bit more elite then the army.

"Living in the gutter outside of the core" - not just outside. Places like Coruscant also had notoriously distopian slums on the lower levels, even to the point of having citizens that didn't know there was a sky.

I really hope that this series shows us why stormtroopers are effective soldiers, they get a lot of trash talk that they simply don't deserve because of plot armor and getting to be the timer for when you have to be gone from an area would make them feel like better soldiers everywhere

If only Star Wars creators hadn’t turned Stormtroopers into a complete joke in popular culture, not to mention the movies themselves.

I love the imperial army and I really want to see them as much as possible

I think it's interesting we'll see Imperial goons that aren't faceless drones. The show could tackle how seemingly regular people, people that could be your friends, family, or neighbors, could go on to do horrible things in service of horrible ideas and regimes. That's a big topic for Star Wars, the tip of that iceberg was shown with Freck in Kenobi. I wonder if anyone Cassian knows that he one didn't think much of could go on to serve the Empire.

The use of the common imperial Army infantry trooper combat means that if there are to be action scenes in which imperial troopers are slain en mass by the protagonists the audience will see the faces of these dying soldiers. Almost each and every last expression of dying nameless imperial army soldier.
it really will demonstrate that every nameless mock slain on screen is an individual.

Well typically we see stormtroopers vs even more elite jedi or son and daughter of the chosen one. We also mostly see the events where rebel victories happen so the reporting is a bit biased against stormtroopers... In the mandalorian, they are fighting the most elite of the mandalorians.

It's great to see other Imperial forces involved in an occupation's day-to-day work, rather than having their elite forces operating a checkpoint in the middle of nowhere for example.

I really hope stormtroopers and imperials will be portrayed as well trained soldiers. Stormtroopers are one of the worst handled aspect of Star Wars under Disney.

I hope they will show clear difference between the army and stormtroopers as elite they should be instead of what we have gotten so far.

The best way to look at it is to compare the imperial army to the German Wermacht and the stormtrooper corps are equivalent to the SS. Both Competing for the same resources and role, both using similar equipment (with the ss typically being better and more specialised) with one also acting as a police force

I'm 15 and love the Star Wars Lucas made. but after watching what Disney has made so far, you couldn't force me to watch a minute of this garbage

What I'm afraid about Andor is the absurd portrayal of the Empire. I'm afraid they are going to go deeper into rabbit hole of Empire being evil for being evil sake, and Imperial characters doing evil stuff as if they had a monthly quota of evil stuff to do. The entire plot of Obi Wan revolves around Imperials having some sort of evil things to do quota and racing with each other to do more evil stuff than the next guy.

Maybe we'll see an imperial army that can actually shoot now, considering the fact they aren't using stormtrooper helmets

My personal idea is that stormtroopers are more like a marines, they serve on ships and are deployed from them, on the other hand the imperial army serves only as the ground force. For me it is also a reason why the first order uses only stormtroopers, because they operate from ships.

Giving we see a lot of Stormtroopers is non-elite functions a bit later in the timeline, like in Rebels, I have a feeling of lot of the army where eventually transferred to the Stormtroopers if not completely phased out over time.

Maybe I’ve aged out on Star Wars but I find myself wanting the empire to have more color to their motives than “we’re the bad guys and we’re bad because we’re EVIL”. Like, they’ve got a galaxy to run, their must be more to their government than blowing up planets and talking like hitler.
