Why ANDOR made me ANGRY #shorts #starwars

Andor is actually pretty great. But something just felt wrong and we will get to that. The show is very well shot, the costume design is on point, the sets look real and weathered, the lighting, the acting, it is all very well made. I don’t think the show moves at a glacial pace like some others think in the fandom. None of the episodes outright bored me but I also wasn’t glued to the screen and gasping the whole time.

Despite the show centering around a character we already know the fate of, it still has a lot of meat on the bone. I would give the first 3 episodes like 7.5 death stars out of 10 or whatever. What had me bumming was all the positives. How is Andor, a show about a forgettable character from a one off movie, leagues above a Kenobi show? Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t HATE Kenobi but it looked like an ameture production in comparison to Andor. The small editing mistakes, the bizarre camera movements, the Volume being used heavily are not present in Andor.

It’s insane to me that they could make such an eh show with Kenobi but seemingly knock it out of the park with Andor. Kenobi and Boba Fett were the most lukewarm, skim milk shows. What do you think of Andor so far? Let me know in the comments.

Kenobi was made to satisfy a meme. Andor was made because someone had a story to tell. One show was always going to be better than the other.

They relied too heavy on the Obi-Wan Kenobi name and the cameos from Darth Vader and Leia, they didn't focus too much on the details like in Andor a character from a one off movie, they needed to draw people in, everyone would watch Kenobi, they needed to make sure people came and stayed for Andor

Andor is awesome. Stelan Skarsgard deserves an Emmy for his monologue in Episode 10.

Talent. Writers, Directors, someone strong enough to stick to their vision and ignore studio notes and interference. It doesn't matter how great your cast is... because you can't polish a turd

I have to agree. Do I like Andor? Yes, I think it's great.

But goddammit, after a Boba Fett show and a goddamn Obi-Wan show, why is Andor the only really good one? Andor should've been the worst one, not because I wanted it to bad, but because I wanted the other two shows to be better.

They saved money on way less Droids, Aliens, and Battle. They concentrated on telling a story about people and emotions during a violent time in the Galaxy.

Seeing regular people deal with the empires policies and methods, particularly at this time in the galaxy’s history is very cool and adds a whole new layer to the galactic civil war

The Star Wars IP is a prison, and Andor is the closest thing it has to an escapee.

Andor is the quality that every Star Wars movie/series should have been. Hopefully Disney will make future shows and seasons with the same quality as Andor.

I liked that Andor didn’t have to be quirky, spout one liners or call back to references from past movies and shows. It does it’s own thing and I love every moment of it

They left Tony Gilroy alone to make the show he wanted, of course he knocked it out of the park

Editing mistakes? Filming restrictions? Dude, it's the WRITING. The writing in Kenobi was absolute shite. Its not subtle at all. Gilroy is in an entirely different league. How could you miss that?

Andor scratches a cyberpunk itch I didn't even know I had.

I kinda agree, it looks like they saved all their best writing and direction for Andor. Perhaps they felt the name recognition would carry the other series along, while feeling like Andor waa going to actually have to be good to survive as a series - and it is, at least so far.

I assume it's just what happens with decent writing, techniques for directing, and leaning on practical effects. I wish obi and boba were of the same quality but it is what it is

Nah bro, your right. I think it’s simply about talent. Andor has a more experienced crew. It’s sad to me that kenobi ended up the way it did. But oh well, here we are.

yeah the fact that Andor is better than BOBF and Kenobi is frustrating

Obi wan is the worst show I’ve ever seen. In my life. Andor is one of the best.

Andor Fantastic! This is solid cinematography and writing at a peace that builds up anticipation. The shots and sceneries remind me of a full blown movie epic, and I somehow forget I’m watching Star Wars because the environments seemingly blend into the story, where all I’m wondering is “what’s the this team n heist? And okay, this is a interesting in-depth look into the imperial world n process.” We’re also allowed a moment to see how the rebellion has to hide and act in a Post clone war, Empire. And the drama of the politics without it being to dull / ham fisted.
