Jack always says he adored flicks. As someone with 0 aerial mechanics I’d love to see a flick tutorial as I think at my rank, a flick is borderline unsave-able

Thanks man, I learned how to walldash and my dad reminded me that I'm still a disappointment. Great tutorial!

There's one thing I disagree with in this tutorial, and that is you shouldn't move your joystick straight to the left/right. Otherwise you just perform a sideflip which gives you no forward momentum. Instead, you'll want to add a tiny angle to both movements. It makes the mechanic a bit harder and more complicated, but it'll greatly increase the effectiveness of the mechanic.

When the wall is on your left, angle your joystick to the right and a tiny bit downwards, then move straight across to the left and a tiny bit upwards.

When the wall is on your right, angle your joystick to the left and a tiny bit downwards, then move straight across to the right and a tiny bit upwards.

The steeper the angle, the harder it is, but adding a bit of angle helps a lot with generating speed.

Another thing I'd like to add is that you can practice this by using slo-mo settings, starting at 0.5 speed and slowly increasing to normal speed once you're able to perform the mechanic at the set speed.

Everything else about the tutorial I completely agree with, especially with breaking down the mechanic into parts.

Don't think it's said enough how much everyone loves watching your videos, Jack. You make it fun but also simple.

What really helped me improve in learning the Wall Dash was setting the game speed to 60% just to grasp the movement. Thanks to the slower speed, I was able to execute nearly every wall dash perfectly, making it possible for me to learn it much faster. As time passed, I gradually increased the speed to 70%, 80%, and so on until I reached 100%.

I loved the beginning of the video where Jack looks at us and tells us exactly what is going to happen

Another quick tip if you're struggling, is to set a lower dodge deadzone in the settings, and see if that's more comfortable for you.

Jack, the absolute GOAT. Man because of you I managed to win vs top 48 global in a 1v1 🙏

I know that your one of the few pros who consistently use the zap dash. I’d love a quick vid on that. Also loved the tutorial❤

In case this helps anyone, I slowed it down frame by frame to make sure I had this broken down right:
In the rapid 2 jump presses, the first jump is with the analog stick all the way to the left still, and the second one is once the analog stick is back all the way to the right.

I can't hit X fast enough to do the single wall-dash consistently. Unless I'm almost supersonic already I just end up flipping off the wall usually

I just love when someone intelligent does a tutorial, because they include all the steps necessary but break them down into easy to understand guide. When I was first told how to walldash I was told "hold air roll right on right wall or left on left wall and spam jump very very fast"...needless to say I ended up like Jack described in the beginning of the video.
Jack if you read this, thank you for this tutorial and for being an inspiration to many people in the community. Keep up the good work!

I havent learned wall dashes because i found the first youtube tutorial i watched was utter mixed message crap. tried to learn by slowing down youtube vids with controller display and couldnt see the movement required. Always said to my friend who spams them but cant explain it, I'll learn it if AppJack comes out with a tutorial. My time has come. Thanks Jack!

This shows how most mechanics work, it can feel as if a mechanic is near impossible by trying to just straight up do it. Great explanation and video.

I always end up coming back to this video, its taken several times of revisiting this mech as my thumb just isnt as fast as most i suppose. but im finally able to do 2 to 3 in a row sometimes. which means eventually ill have it down. just like the speedflip and directional air roll. this mech has taken so much time to learn.

I keep side flipping into the wall, any tips ? if this happens does this mean I'm pressing the jump button too early, too late ? What am I doing wrong ? It randomly works like 10% of the time and I'm not understanding what I'm doing right when it works. This is so frustrating because everyone keep telling that it's easy.
EDIT : TIPS : Okay you have to double press the jump button INSALNELY fast, that was it. If you're side flipping into the wall, you're not pressing it fast enough, if you double jump off the wall, you're pressing it when your joystick is too close to the middle.

If you're too slow try reducing game speed to 50-70% in the training settings until you're confortable enough to up the speed gradually to 100%. You could also try doing it at supersonic speed becuse the faster you are the wider the time frame to do it is. The harsh truth is some people could never do it due to the limitation of their thumbs...

If you're double jumping off the wall try reducing your dodge deadzone until you figure out the movement.

Additional tip for when you want to do it with ballcam on and not off like when you were training in freeplay : try thinking down the wall then up the wall, not left then right if on this wall or this wall, this helps a lot to understand the motion and not just remember it.

Hope this helps !
