This video is exactly what I was looking for. However, it raised a few more questions than it answered. Where do you stand if you hit to the right side on your approach (like in the video) and the opponent is left-handed or has a really good cross-court backhand. Do you still stand 2-3 feet right of center? How would you adjust?

great video, but do you think it is worth it to come into the net when a player with an effective lob just constantly lobs you when you do? as a player who considers themselves to have relatively strong volleys and enjoy rushing the net when i can and playing attacking tennis, when i come up against these players i usually find myself doing more running than i need to to get back to the baseline and just hit another topspin forehand, and sometimes feel like i wasted a shot. is there a strategy to counter this or do i just need to stay back?

Hii Kevin and Ian,
My name is Vyom Gandhi from India and I want to ask you that if my opponent is consistent player means he not hit aggressive shots but keep the ball in and he just give me the ball from this corner to that corner an if I tried to finish the ball the ball goes out or in the net. So can you please make a video or tell me how to defeat him .

In the golden times of tennis, pros liked to attack through the middle of the court. Because this gives the opponent poor angles. However, as a mortal I used to attack the weaker side, which is in 99% of all cases the backhand. mix a little bit of course, when your opponent starts to stay more on the backhand side. Use a direct, short way to the net, so no inside out forehand and then run diagional to the net, bad idea. Look at Milos Ranos, he did it always and got passed, not a difficult passing shot.

I like the key as same side of the opponent’s hitting position…
