Uncovering a Dangerous Meat Market Tied to Anthrax Outbreaks in Uganda

Fellows from Uganda’s CDC-supported Public Health Fellowship Program uncovered a black market for meat trade that was associated with an anthrax outbreak. The discovery led to changes in how subsequent anthrax outbreaks have been investigated and controlled in Uganda.
